Tyler the Weirdo
The song Yonkers by Tyler the Creator is odd and creepy enough in itself, and the music video only adds to the weirdness of the song. The video is in black and white and centers solely on Tyler the Creator, constantly zooming in and out of focus on him. The video gives off an eerie feeling from the get go. The video only gets creepier when you see Tyler the Creator letting a cockroach crawl on his hands, and then the word “kill” written on his left hand. Tyler the Creator proceeds to eat the cockroach, which is disgusting enough, then to make things worse you see him throwing up. At the end of the video you see a noose drop down into the scene, which Tyler the Creator puts around his neck. He then stands up on his stool and tips it over, hanging himself to death, all while seeing his legs and feet are having spasms. One way I would describe the video is disturbing. I really have no idea how the video connects to the lyrics of the song, except for that they are both extremely odd. Then again, if you ever decide to listen to other songs of Tyler the Creator and realize how weird they all are, you may understand that the video just goes along with the oddness of his songs.
(Don't) Keep it Goin' Louder
I’m really not sure what to say after seeing the video for Major Lazer’s Keep it Goin’ Louder, except for the first thought that popped into my mind, which was simply “what the fuck.” Those are really the only words I can find that accurately describe this video by Major Lazer. This video is full of weird, trashy, fat ladies, who have distorted faces and are often scantily dressed, dancing around and singing. All of this occurring with an animated trippy background that makes me feel as though I’m tripping on some hallucinogenic drug. This video isn’t even what I would call a funny-weird, just a weird-weird video. I’m still having a hard time describing how I feel about this video, simply because it is so weird and left me with an incredibly odd feeling after watching it. Whoever came up with the idea for this music video had to have a pretty weird mind, or was just on a lot of drugs.
Thank God It's NOT Friday
Rebecca Black has recently become an internet phenomenon after she released her music video single “Friday.” In less than four months Black has over 98 million views on Youtube with almost 2 million “dislikes.” All of the negative criticism has catapulted Black into the spot light, she has confirmed that she is already working on material for a debut album as well as other singles. All of the negative criticism to the video is well deserved, the lyrics of the song just describe Black waking up, eating cereal, going to the bus stop, and other boring day to day activities that no one is interested in. To make the video even more ridiculous much of it shows young children driving a car, including the line “We so excited about safety.” With how boring and corny this music video is there’s no surprise that it has received so much negative criticism.
Bears on a train?
This video is a music video by the band Rise Against for the song Saviour. The music video is opened up as the band performing the song outdoors and the scene changes to what appears to be a person wearing a bear suit sitting on a city bus. The next few scenes show other “animal suits” around a city, they appear to be homeless because they are standing around a garbage can fire. The scenes are constantly switching to the animals at the band all dancing to the music. This video strikes me as very odd in the fact that it does not make any sense to the audience. The lyrics of the song have to do with an old girl friend, not with wild animals in a city. The video is very odd however I believe it has been a success due to its non-mainstream style.

The Science of Making a Weird Music Video into a Good One
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krXG307d4k8
What do a cartoon world, phantom disembodied hands, black rain, strippers and Godzilla have to do with the song “The Science of Selling Yourself Short” by Less Than Jake? Absolutely nothing. However they are all found within the songs incredibly strange, yet highly artistic music video. While this music video really doesn’t seem to make much sense, it’s pretty entertaining to watch nonetheless. It’s one of those videos that tells a story when you watch it, even though the story is abstract and isn’t the same one being told in the song. There’s not really a whole lot to make fun of in this video because it’s actually fun to watch, despite being weird. Watching the disembodied cartoon hands get into trouble and do all the bad things the lead singer won’t do, combined with the catchy song that the band plays makes for a video that’s entertaining without having to make fun of it.

M.C. Escher Would be Proud
So, the first thing that comes to mind when I watch the video for The Red Hot Chili Pepper’s “Otherside” is “what the hell?” The Chili Peppers always have weird music videos, but this one is just too out there. The world in which the band is singing looks like something out of an M.C. Escher picture with everything being black and white with patterns and odd shapes. There is even a scene in the video with ladders running every which way around a room that look very similar to the famous Relativity picture with the endless staircases. So why is the drummer using a clock tower as his drum set? Why is the bassist using telephone wires in the air as his bass guitar? And what the hell is going on in that scene where that dude is battling a paper mache dragon with a giant toothpick? To be honest I can’t make much sense of anything going on in this video, especially in relation to the lyrics, and it’s all kind of eerie. But hey, at least the song is good!
Hooked On Something
How does Germany consider David Hasslehoff a talented musician? This is one of the worst music videos I have ever seen. He must have been high on "more than a feeling" to release this video to the public and think it was good. The video only consists of him standing infront of a green screen wearing strange costumes and doing weird things. Anyone with a camera and knows how to use a computer is capable of making a video like this. David Hasslehoff should probably stick to Knight Rider and Baywatch, he would embarrass himself less at least. B.j. Thomas must wish he never wrote this song after hearing the Hoffs rendition.
What “Kids” Want to See This?
In the video “Kids” by MGMT, we are thrown into the day of a baby that compares to what many people would consider a bad drug hallucination trip. It starts off in the child’s crib, where a giant abstract monster is looming over its crib but seems to not intend to attack, but rather scare the child. The baby’s mother rescues it but is oblivious to the monster, and the several other monsters and zombie-looking people that are roaming the city as the baby becomes detached from the mother. The whole day goes on as the baby sees various weird figures and monsters, while the mother does not pay any attention to what is going on. The video is about growing up and not trying to see all the bad things in life, because you will eventually grow up to become one of those monsters. However, the title is ironic because this is exactly what kids do not want to see and constantly fear.
Psychiatrists in Need Here
The next music video I examined was called “Frontier Psychiatrist,” by The Avalanches. Wow, where to even start on this video. From animals to humans, and just about every possible instrument, this music video strings together some of the most random events possible and make as little sense to the audience as four hundred year old hieroglyphics. At first, we see a mother talking to what seems to be a school principal and he is explaining that her son is being expelled from the school and needs psychiatric help. We then go into a visual trip on the stage where the video is being preformed. It all takes place in one spot on the stage, and people just keep coming out from the sides and adding on to the numbers on stage. We see many random events, such as an old lady playing the drums, and later on a monkey playing a simpler drum set. No real story line takes part in this video, however there could be a message trying to be sent to the audience. This message is that how crazy the entire world really is. Sure, some people may be labeled “clinically insane” or “mentally unstable,” but the rest of the world can seem just as crazy when looked at from a different view. The message may be unclear, but this video is entertaining and each person will take a different message after seeing it.

Is That An Angel, Baby? No! Its His Dance Moves
I've seen plenty of music videos that are meant to be funny, but I can't tell if this video is meant to be serious or not. This lady is just strange from what i can tell either way. I don'nt know what to think about the lyrics either, they are all about dancing tiger ladies and trolls. Im curious where she found tights like these to wear in the first place. Seeing her in these tights makes the video hard to watch but when she starts singing and dancing you just start to think "what is going on here?" I feel embarrassed for her. If you pause the video at any point you will be able to get a good laugh. I can only imagine what would have happened if she remembered to activate her tight pants...
